Workshops on breast cancer prevention

On Thursday, October 13, Agnieszka Ford – a trainer from the Kochasz – Dopilnuj (en. Love – Make Sure) Foundation, conducted workshops on breast cancer prevention for women at ALTO. She provided a number of interesting and extremely important information that could save your life.

Education is particularly important in this regard – the earlier a tumor is detected, the greater the chance of successful treatment. And it can even touch one in eight of us. It is also worth knowing that breast cancer affects not only mature women, but unfortunately younger and younger women, even in their twenties. In Poland, unfortunately, mortality due to this cancer is increasing. That’s why it’s never too early to take care of yourself!

What did we talk about during the workshop? Among other things, about this:

• What are the breast cancer incidence statistics? Today, it is even more popular with women than lung cancer. Interestingly, in this case, smoking does not affect the possible illness – but alcohol consumption and lack of physical activity do.
• Why is breast cancer often diagnosed in Poland only at a really late stage?
• What are the causes of illnesses and can they always be determined?
• What are the risk factors at which we must pay special attention to prevention? Is it worth doing genetic tests?
• How to be tested and what should arouse our vigilance? Many of the symptoms are not only palpable lumps, but also things visible to the naked eye.
• Why is it so important to choose the right doctor to perform an ultrasound check-up and why is it necessary to do it regularly – regardless of whether we are 20 or 60 years old?
• Why can natural medicine only support, but not replace traditional forms of treatment, such as pharmacotherapy or radiation?
