Marcin Domagała, PhD

Marcin is a Managing Partner of the ALTO Risk Adisory business line and an experienced leader whose career has led from the world of science to business.

From loop quantum gravity models and educating students, to modeling financial and insurance risks in financial institutions and building an audit support team in an audit company.

Marcin gained his business experience working for the largest insurance companies and in the so-called “Big Four” companies. He holds an actuary’s license. His expertise is demonstrated by a number of completed projects in Solvency II, IFRS 17, quantitative modeling of the impact of ESG risks on corporate finance, and mathematical modeling of financial risk, including interest rate, credit, operational and inflation risks. He also has experience in building product and sales strategies as well as actuarial risk management.

Professionally, Marcin was also involved in the fields of data science and AI, which he used, among other things, in his own start-up, where he additionally designed and built applications dedicated to individual customer needs.

Marcin relies on his academic roots. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Warsaw, where he studied i.a. quantum gravity. This experience provided him with a very strong mathematical apparatus, successfully transferred to his professional practice when dealing with mathematical modeling of actuarial and financial risk.

He is also one of a limited number of experts in the field of quantum computers, from both their positive use and emerging quantum data security risks.

Marcin has been promoting and developing offers related to the use of quantum computers for years. He successfully implemented the first project in our region on cyber-quantum risk assessment and developed a quantum strategy for one of the banks.

In addition, Marcin conducted workshops in cooperation with clients around the world, preparing examples of the use of generative artificial intelligence and Large Language Models. He particularly focused on their use in the areas of compliance and regulatory risk.
